San Diego Day Parties: Bounce Sundays

On this cold winter’s day, I want to bring you back, to the warm days of summer on a sun-drenched patio in the city of San Diego, with the gorgeous Pacific ocean in the background; where DJ sets come alive with live instruments and sun sets to music.   Today’s we’re going to Bounce Sundays.

The founders of Bounce Sundays wanted bring something a little different to the San Diego Sunday Funday scene and they’ve done just that.   First up a change of scenery.  While most day club action in San Diego is in the trendy downtown area or it’s hipster counterpart, North Park; Bounce Sundays calls the beautiful upscale beach community of La Jolla home.  The terrace at Prospect Bar and Grill with it’s view of the Pacific Ocean provides the perfect backdrop, for a summer afternoon party.

Musically, Bounce Sundays adds tech house flavor to the San Diego day party scene.   For those who are unfamiliar with the genre  of tech house, it combines minimalist electronic beats of techno, and add a soul of house to make the record a little funky.

But it’s the addition of live performance is what really sets the party apart. I’ll take a hula girl over a go-go anyday.

Hula GirlThe live instruments add another dimension to the traditional DJ set.  The drums compliment the traditional four to floor; wind and string instruments make the music accessible for non-house heads while at the same time augmenting the listening experience for the dance connoisseurs.
